Jakarta, 22 April 2024 - Committed to enhance the growth of millions through life-focused digital financial solutions, PT Bank Jago Tbk, as a technology-based bank, has once again initiated the Jagoan Journalist Forum (FJJ), a regular discussion event, this time specifically targeted at the photography ehthusiast community.

This FJJ event is part of the "Smart Money Management with GoPay Savings by Jago" Photo Journalist Competition series, a collaborative event between Bank Jago and the Indonesian Photo Journalist Association (PFI) Jakarta to enhance financial literacy and inclusion among the public.

The FJJ this time featured speakers Beawiharta, a senior photographer and visual storyteller, and Widiarto Proboprasetyo, Head of Transaction Services at Bank Jago. Both shared their experiences, explained the challenges and opportunities of photography in the era of technological disruption, and emphasized the importance of healthy financial planning and management.

The event was opened by Head of Finance Technology & Operations at Bank Jago, Supranoto Prajogo, who also shared his experience as a banker with a hobby in photography. He also explained Bank Jago's aspirations and commitment to providing growth opportunities for millions of people through digital financial solutions embedded in a digital ecosystem and focused on life.

"Bank Jago recognizes the importance of financial and digital literacy in enhancing the growth opportunities for millions of Indonesians, so we have combined these two platforms so that journalist colleagues and the photography community can better understand various things related to the development, dynamics of the photography world, and the latest financial management," explained Supranoto.

During the discussion session, Beawiharta revealed that the challenge of media disruption in the digital era is not only about innovation changes but also changes in business models and work processes that rapidly follow the demands of the times.

"For example, in the past, the coverage process took a long time to become news, but now the process is shorter because of access and digital-based media," he explained.

He stated that all photographers are currently in a transition period for business communication. "Therefore, we must continue to follow technological developments to see opportunities, especially in the photography business. One thing that can be done is to create a portfolio on social media," he continued.

In the same event, Head of Transaction Services at Bank Jago, Widiarto Proboprasetyo, added the importance of financial management for photography as a profession or business. "However, it is undeniable that photography is not a cheap hobby. Besides using a smartphone, at least a camera and other equipment are needed to support this activity. All of that needs to be supported by sufficient finances," he said.

In response to these challenges, Widiarto explained that a digital financial solution is needed to facilitate users in allocating money and savings, and all of that can be done through the Jago App.

"Jago App is designed to help and build a culture of disciplined financial management for customers. Friends can use the Pocket feature, each of which can be tailored according to needs, for example, a special photography pocket for shooting budgets, a savings pocket for traveling, or other pockets such as retirement funds, donation or charity pockets. Additionally, Jago App is embedded within Indonesia’s digital ecosystem, such as Gojek, GoPay, Bibit, and Stockbit," explained Widiarto.

Regarding the "Smart Money Management with GoPay Savings by Jago" Photo Journalist Competition, which ran from October 2023 to 7 February 2024, Bank Jago and PFI Jakarta reported 128 photos submitted by 32 photographers, published in 11 national media, 6 local (regional) media, and 6 community sites.

After a rigorous and transparent judging process, 3 winners were announced: Nurul Hidayat from Bisnis Indonesia won first place, Maman Sukirman from Sindo Makassar won second place, and Dwi Pambudo from Rakyat Merdeka won third place. In addition, the judges selected 5 favorite photos and 5 choice photos.

"Congratulations to all the winners of the competition. Hopefully, this activity could bring a positive impact, especially in spreading information and knowledge to the public, improving financial literacy and inclusion through photojournalism," said Haritsah Al Mudatsir, Chairman of the Journalist Photo Competition Committee, who is also a photojournalist for Jawa Pos.
