Jakarta - 8 July 2026 – As artificial intelligence fundamentally reshapes the financial sector, digital institutions are facing a delicate balance: innovating rapidly while simultaneously maintaining customer trust and rigorous regulatory standards. Addressing this need, PT Bank Jago Tbk has committed to the responsible deployment of AI technology to elevate customer experience, drive operational productivity, and reinforce risk management frameworks.
Nicholas Tan, Director* of Retail Banking Business of Bank Jago, acknowledged the inherent structural challenges of integrating AI into financial infrastructure. Unlike traditional banking systems which operate on deterministic rules, AI relies on probabilistic models. Consequently, establishing reliable systems and fostering public confidence remain vital priorities.
To mitigate these challenges, Bank Jago employs rigorous adversarial testing to evaluate model resilience. The bank also maintains a strict "human-in-the-loop" framework where needed, ensuring human oversight remains integral to key decision-making processes.
"At Bank Jago, we ensure that AI is used responsibly by complying with all regulations, safeguarding customer data, and conducting rigorous testing. This ensures our AI models work accurately and minimizes the risk of inaccurate information, or AI hallucination," said Nicholas during a panel session titled "Responsible AI in Finance: Balancing Innovation, Risk & Regulation" at the World AI Show Indonesia 2026, Jakarta.
While prioritizing customer privacy, Nicholas emphasized, technological deployment must extend beyond market trends to deliver tangible value, as Bank Jago has leveraged AI tools to optimize internal workflows. For example, Bank Jago developed an internal compliance bot with a chat interface that rapidly catalogs and summarizes Financial Services Authority (OJK) regulations and internal bank documentation.
This automation streamlines cross-departmental coordination among product, IT, and business units, allowing compliance officers to focus fully on governance. "We also utilize AI to strengthen risk mitigation, including detecting and preventing digital fraud to reduce potential financial losses," Nicholas added.

Operating as a branchless and technology-driven institution, Bank Jago relies on its call center as its central customer touchpoint. By integrating AI, the bank is able to automate a multitude of transcriptions and streamline call evaluations, marking a fundamental evolution in banking operations.
This represents a significant operational shift from conventional manual sampling, which typically covers only 10% to 15% of interactions. Consequently, supervisors can now promptly identify critical issues and deliver targeted retraining for customer service representatives.
Looking ahead, Bank Jago projects that its long-term technological roadmap will incorporate personalized, conversational generative AI interfaces. This initiative aims to provide consumers with tailored financial guidance, ultimately advancing broader national objectives for financial literacy and inclusion.
