Yogyakarta, May 3, 2024 - PT Bank Jago Tbk, through its sharia business unit (Jago Syariah), once again supports the Halal Fair 2024, an exhibition of halal products and the sharia economy, held in Yogyakarta from May 3 to 5, 2024. This support demonstrates Bank Jago's commitment to promoting the development of Indonesia's sharia economy and halal industry.
Waasi Sumintardja, Head of Sharia Business at Bank Jago, stated that Jago Syariah's participation in the Halal Fair aligns with the aspiration to enhance growth opportunities for millions through life-centric digital financial solutions. Through Jago Syariah, Bank Jago provides sharia banking products and services via an application that is as sophisticated and convenient as conventional banking in terms of ease, convenience, and transaction security.
“Currently, Indonesia is home to over 230 million Muslims, the largest in the world. However, sharia banking products and services are not yet the primary choice compared to conventional banking products and services. Through the Halal Fair, we aim to introduce Jago Syariah to help customers achieve their financial goals while also improving national sharia financial literacy and inclusion,” said Waasi.
As a technology-based bank embedded in the digital ecosystem, Jago Syariah's activities are not only supervised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) but also monitored by the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN-MUI). Additionally, Jago Syariah customer deposits are guaranteed by the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS).
Waasi hopes that the Halal Fair can serve as an incubator for halal business players, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Additionally, such sharia events are expected to further introduce sharia financial products and services to the wider community, which can boost national sharia economic growth.

Over the next three days, Jago Syariah will offer many attractive promotions for visitors and participating tenants in the Halal Fair series 2024.

Moreover, Jago Syariah will provide financial education to couples and young families in Yogyakarta to help them manage household finances according to sharia principles,” explained Waasi.
There are around 111 brands from various business categories at the Halal Fair 2024 in Yogyakarta, ranging from Muslim fashion products, halal beauty products, hajj/umrah travel, education, culinary, sharia banking and finance, and other multiproducts. By participating in the event, the people of Yogyakarta and its surroundings not only have the opportunity to shop for halal products at special prices but also engage in business, enhance networking and business skills, and enjoy sharia tourism with their families.
The Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) is one of eight provinces prioritized for national sharia economic development, alongside Aceh, West Sumatra, South Sulawesi, South Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Java, and West Java.
According to the DIY Department of Cooperatives and SMEs, more than 300,000 MSMEs have grown in the Student City area. Unfortunately, only about 0.1 percent of MSMEs are halal-certified.
The Halal Fair series is one of the efforts to encourage all relevant parties, particularly MSME players and related authorities, to optimize the potential of the national halal industry.
