Jakarta, 26 July 2024 – Following a rigorous selection process, PT Bank Jago Tbk has been chosen as one of Indonesia's top young innovators for successfully implementing sustainable business strategies in line with United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) principles. As a technology-based bank embedded in the digital ecosystem, Bank Jago has been recognized for its innovations that improve the financial health of the lower-middle class through responsible lending.
This prestigious title was awarded during the SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals (SDGI) 2024 event, organized by the Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN) in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
Initially, SDGI 2024 involved 57 young professionals forming 16 innovator teams from 15 companies in Indonesia. Judging and evaluation were conducted by professional judges based on six predetermined selection criteria: solution relevance, positive impact on SDGs in society, innovation and leadership processes, program sustainability, replicability and scalability, and commitment and willingness.
The results saw IGCN and BRIN selected six top young innovator teams for 2024, including:
- PT Bank Jago Tbk for the innovation "Improving Financial Health of The Lower-Middle Market Through Non-Predatory Responsible Lending";
- Dynapack Asia for the innovation "Community-Based Indonesia HDPE Recycling Facilities";
- PT Domas Agrointi Prima for the innovation "Biomass Pellets As Renewable Energy for Better Environment and Society";
- Team 2 of PT Mowilex Indonesia for the innovation "From Palette to Planet: Painting Our Way to Sustainability";
- PT Petro Energi for the innovation "Waste to Energy for Community";
- PT Samudera Indonesia for the innovation "Empowering Indonesian Fisheries Through Renewable Energy Implementation".
"The top six innovators will represent Indonesia at the UN Leader Summit during the UN General Assembly this September," said IGCN Executive Director Josephine Satyono at the SDGI 2024 Awards event at the BRIN Grand Ballroom, Jakarta (25/7/2024).
Josephine highly appreciates the involvement of all the innovators for their commitment and dedication to the SDGI 2024 program. “Their remarkable innovations clearly show that young professionals in Indonesia can contribute to achieving the 2030 SDGs Agenda.”
