Jakarta, 14 August 2024 - PT Bank Jago Tbk has been recognized as one of Indonesia's top young innovator teams, successfully implementing a sustainable business strategy aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This award was presented during the 2024 SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals (SDGI) program, which is organized globally by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) network and coordinated in Indonesia by the Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN), with support from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas).
The 2024 SDGI program was participated in by 57 young professionals forming 16 innovator teams from 15 companies in Indonesia. Based on six selection criteria—solution relevance, positive impact on SDGs in the community, innovation process and leadership, program sustainability, replicability and scalability, as well as commitment and willingness—IGCN and BRIN selected Bank Jago as one of the top six young innovator teams in Indonesia for 2024.
As part of the SDGI 2024 program, Bank Jago presented an innovative responsible lending product concept, adhering to the commitment to advance financial health as recommended by the UN’s Principles of Responsible Banking (PRB). The title of this product innovation concept is “Improving Financial Health for the Lower-Middle Class Through Responsible and Non-Exploitive Lending.”
Andy Djiwandono, Head of Sustainability & Digital Lending at Bank Jago, explained that the initial idea for designing a responsible lending concept stemmed from Bank Jago’s concern over SDG issues, especially improving financial health and fostering sustainable economic growth. "This responsible lending concept aligns with Bank Jago’s aspiration to enhance growth opportunities for millions of people through life-focused digital financial solutions," he explained.
In designing the responsible lending concept, Bank Jago followed the financial health framework developed by the UN, aiming to encourage customers to care about their financial well-being. Andy stated that as a technology-based bank with a commitment to innovation, Bank Jago seeks to create a lending product that is fast, affordable, customizable, transparent from the start, and includes financial health tips.
“The transparency we refer to means that all information regarding the customer’s rights and obligations is clear upfront, with no hidden fees. This way, potential customers can make informed decisions before actually taking out a loan,” Andy said.
In the SDGI 2024 program, Bank Jago’s innovator team was led by Andy Djiwandono and included four members: Bank Jago Consumer Business Community Manager Edo Velandika; Bank Jago Consumer Business Value Proposition Manager Muhammad Pandu; Digital Lending Product Management Specialist Vito Giovanni, and Sustainability Program Activation Specialist Andhina Aryani.
