Jakarta, February 27, 2024 - The Indonesian Banking Development Institute (LPPI) along with 23 Branch Managers of Regional Development Banks (BPD) conducted a benchmarking visit to Bank Jago to study the digital banking business model.
The delegation, led by LPPI Director Retno Wahyuni Wijayanti, began their visit with an office tour at Bank Jago's headquarters. This was followed by a sharing session featuring speakers Head of Culture, Communication and Sustainability at Bank Jago, Maya Kartika, and Head of People & Culture at Bank Jago, Pratomo Soedarsono.
During the session, Maya Kartika explained Bank Jago's aspirations and challenges in its efforts as a tech-based bank, committed to enhance the growth of millions through life-focused digital financial solutions.
"Since the beginning of establishing Bank Jago, we have believed that with Indonesia's enormous mass market, banks in the future will undergo service transformation. For example, opening an account does not have to be done at a branch office. For this reason, we have developed a tech-based bank to address this pain point," Maya explained.
Meanwhile, Pratomo Soedarsono, commonly known as Tommy, explained Bank Jago's strategies and business models, emphasizing innovation and collaboration within the digital ecosystem. "To enhance opportunities for millions of people to grow, Bank Jago is committed to continuous innovation and collaboration to provide digital financial solutions that have a positive impact on the lives of Indonesian society," Tommy said.
Speaking about the challenges of developing a technology-based bank, Tommy mentioned the issue of limited human resources (HR) with expertise and readiness to work in the digital technology field. To address this issue, he introduced Jago Digital Academy as one of Bank Jago’s innovations and collaborations to contribute in fulfilling the future demand for digital talent.
"In building a fully digital bank, Bank Jago not only focuses on building reliable and secure IT and banking infrastructure but also ensuring the availability of human resources with a digital mindset and readiness to work," explained Tommy.
In addition to HR issues, Tommy continued, the low level of financial literacy is also a challenge in improving the standard of living of the Indonesian people. To promote financial education from a young age, Bank Jago introduced Jago Money Quest, an interactive web-based financial education game.
"Jago Money Quest is a game designed to educate the public, especially the younger generation, to care about financial health. This is a tangible manifestation of the sustainability program built by Bank Jago in creating an environment that provides growth opportunities for the entire community," Tommy explained.
The presentations by Maya Kartika and Pratomo Soedarsono about Bank Jago received highly positive appreciation from LPPI and the Branch Managers of BPD.
