Zakat at Jago Amal
Zakat is a form of charity for Muslims and is the fourth pillar of Islam. Zakat is something that is required to be paid by all Muslims who are qualified.
Types of Zakat at Jago Amal
Zakat that is available at Jago Amal is only Zakat Maal which uses a Nishab of 85 grams of gold and a zakat rate of 2.5%.
Zakat Maal
Zakat maal is a zakat that applies to all assets that you own, this zakat is issued by the person who pays zakat (muzakki) through the official amil zakat (organizations) and to be submitted to the person who receives zakat (mustahik).
In accordance with Undang-Undang No. 23 Year 2011 on Zakat Management, the types of Zakat Maal includes:
- zakat on gold, silver, and other precious metals;
- zakat on money and other securities
- zakat of commerce;
- zakat on agriculture, plantation, and forestry;
- zakat on livestock and fisheries
- zakat on mining
- zakat on industry
- zakat on income/income and services; and
- zakat rikaz.
Zakat Maal uses a nishab of 85 grams of gold and a zakat rate of 2.5% according to the Regulation of the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia No. 52/2014 & No. 31/2019, Zakat Maal includes:
- Zakat on Gold
- Zakat on Other Precious Metals
- Zakat on Money
- Zakat on Other Securities
- Zakat on Trade
- Zakat on Fisheries
- Zakat on Mining
- Zakat on Industry (in the field of goods production)
- Zakat on Income
Some zakat types that don’t use the nishab of 85 grams are ;
- Zakat on Silver
- Zakat on Agriculture
- Zakat on Plantation
- Zakat on forestry,
- Zakat on Animal Husbandry.
- Zakat on Industry (in the field of service production)
Why and who should pay zakat
Zakat is part of the Islam pillars that must be fulfilled for those who are able to increase our faith and devotion to Allah. It also aims to help people in need.
Who is required to pay zakat?
People who are obliged to pay zakat:
- Adults (have reached the age of puberty)
- Muslim (Zakat is not payable by non-Muslims)
- Sensible
- Owning assets that have reached the nishab
- Owning assets for one hijriyah year or 12 (twelve) months. Zakat on agricultural and fruits are excluded from the haul requirement because it is collected at harvest time. Likewise, zakat on treasure (rikaz) is taken when it is found.
What is Nishab?
The minimum limit of wealth that is subject to zakat, includes the equivalent of 85 grams of gold.
What is Haul?
The time limit of one hijryah year or 12 (twelve) months for the ownership of assets that are subject to zakat.
When is the time to pay Zakat?
Paying zakat can be done at any time according to your ability. But make sure your wealth has reached the nishab, or the equivalent of 85 grams of gold, and has reached the haul.

Zakat Recipients
Eight groups are entitled to receive Zakat according to QS At-Taubah verse 60:
- Fakir, are people who have almost nothing, so they are unable to meet the basic needs of life
- Poor, people who have assets but not enough to meet the basic needs for life
- Amil, people who collect and distribute zakat.
- Mu'allaf; people who have just converted to Islam and need help to strengthen in tawhid and sharia.
- Riqab, also known as slaves who want to free themselves.
- Gharim, people who are in debt for the necessities of life in defense of their souls and izzah
- Fisabilillah, people who are struggling in the way of Allah and Islam in the form of da'wah activities, etc.
- Ibnu sabil, people who run out of money on the way in obedience to Allah.
Pay Zakat on behalf of

Niat Bayar Zakat Untuk Diri Sendiri
Nawaitu an ukhrija zakaata maalii fardhan lillaahi ta`aalaa.
Meaning: "I intend to pay zakat maal for myself because Allah ta'ala obligatory"
How to Start to Pay Zakat at Jago Amal
- On the Home page, select the Jago Amal menu
- Tap Zakat menu, then enter the amount of Zakat you want to pay
- Select the preferred organization and fill in the name who pays the Zakat or on behalf of, then tap Next
- Check the transaction details again, and tap Pay Now
- Don't forget to read the intention to pay Zakat.
- Enter your PIN to complete the Zakat payment
